The 2011 Hyundai Sonata is available in three different trim levels: the GLS, SE and Limited. All three trim levels have a standard Theta II 2.4-L DOHC 16-valve Inline 4-cylinder engine with Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing. The GLS comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission but is available in the SE and Limited standard 6-speed electronic automatic with an Overdrive lock-up torque converter, shift lock and SHIFTRONIC™ manual shift mode. The GLS receives an EPA-estimated 24 mpg city and 35 mpg highway with a manual transmission while all trim levels with an automatic transmission receives an EPA-estimated 22 mpg city and 35 mpg highway.
The 2011 Hyundai Sonata comes standard with six airbags, including Hyundai’s advanced front airbag system that automatically determines if the driver and/or passenger front airbags will inflate based on occupant weight, height and impact speed, and active front head restraints. Other standard safety features include Electronic Stability Control, ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and Brake Assist, and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
